Each time I visit the ‘first in India’ newly opened Sephora store in Select Citywalk Mall, New Delhi, it feels like my very first time there. With the excitement that Alice must have had in wonderland, there are new products to discover each time, a tester for EVERY product, there is never enough time to try out everything. I love it!!
Its more about the experience than the store. Its a Ryan Gosling version of your house, the house you’d want your house to look like & be. The house you’d not want to leave. EVER. Its Good Earth, the Khan Market Store, New Delhi.
From the moment you walk into it to the moment you leave all you can think of is ‘Ooh I want that’ & ‘Ooh that will be so awesome in the house’ and maybe if you are a bit vocal then you’ll actually say all that out loud and seem like a basket-case, like me.
As our first ‘store’ #stylaned feature we have none other than Rohit Bal’s spacious store located at Defence Colony, New Delhi. A well defined layout separating the menswear from the womenwear, this particular store focusses on Bridal-Wear.
Jenjum Gadi who was one half of the label KOGA sometime back now has his own label. Not afraid to experiment with materials, this time Jenjum has focussed on ‘Gota Work’. Using it in a way that is very different from the traditional Indianwear, he has given the concept of Gota a breath of fresh air! For example the jacket that is featured here, you will never be able to realize that its surface ornamentation has been done using ‘Gota’ but go close and you’ll see what I’m talking about. His collection ranges from some aggressive modernist gota usage to minimal ethereal forms and usage.
You can literally take a whiff of the profound romance that exudes off of Ritu Kumar garments. THAT is how much I have always been in love with her and her work. While a lot of people may say she lacks the radical ‘newness; that a lot of designers belonging to the younger generation bring to Indian Fashion, she really doesn’t need to.
When I saw Anand Bhushan’s “Junkyard” show at The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week AW2012 by FDCI, I knew I would definitely be doing a feature on it! With crazy creativity like that its hard to tell what must be going on in that mind of his…but he agreed! Apart from picking up a gorgeous and ‘heavy-duty’ jacket from his ‘Junkyard’ collection, I also picked up a very different, light and delicate tunic from one of his previous collections as well. It was too pretty to pass.
It was by chance that I got to know Dhruv Kapur , at the recently concluded Delhi Couture Week, where he (very boldly might I add) and his sister wore solid white dresses from his label DRVV, his being backless. I was instantly drawn. So I went up to him, explained what I did, asked him if he was interested…and the rest is history.
