:: Raging on Polkas ::

Polka Dots are such an evergreen trend. They may come and go and come back again, in all sorts of sizes, colors and quantities, but inside all of us, there will always be the child that loves polkas, any given day! For some reason I relate Polkas to vintage. Maybe because I wore them a lot in my childhood and not so much now. Which is why when I laid my eyes on this vintage Vogue cover, I had to do something about it. Manish Arora – Delhi Couture Week – Day 3

Manish Arora knows how to put up a show and boy does he know it right! And since he was showing in the Capital after a gap of over three years it was literally a high octane, full power blast of a show. Energy was ripping through everyone! While I have very few words to express my sheer enthusiasm I do have a truckload of photographs from the show. It wasn’t easy trying to pick out the few that got to come up on the blog. Nevertheless, here they are.

Anju Modi – Delhi Couture Week 2012 – Day 3

This year, Anju Modi presents her collection DEVI. The collection takes inspiration from some of the most vivid characters inked throughout the Bengali literature and those that have been cinematically brought to life.
Like always her garments were so much more than just garments, art, stories infact. Layers upon layers of intricacy so thoughtfully brought together. One look and you know that not just anybody is capable of such craftsmanship. Anju Modi’s shows always leave me in complete awe and love with her.

{ Stylaned } – Priyal Prakash House of Design

Introducing #stylaned as a regular feature on the blog. In collaboration with @naina
As our very first feature we bring to you Priyal Prakash House of Design and a drop dead gorgeous gown from her collection. But who says it should be limited only for the evenings? With a fabulous open-back and sultry gold detailing on the sleeves and bust it really does take sexy to the next level. When you have a beautiful gown like this you MUST NOT clutter the look. It will only downplay the beauty of the gown. Let the gown shine in all its singularity and play with just one set of accessories to accent the look.

JJ Valaya – Delhi Couture Week 2012 – Day 1

When you know its JJ Vallaya, you know its going to be EXTRAVAGANT. Actually in this case collections by ALL the designers will be extravagant, it being ‘Couture Week’ and what not. But still, JJ Vallaya was one show I was really looking forward to. And it delivered…maybe a little too much, but thats what couture is all about. Crazy amount of detailing on traditional Indian silhouettes – lehengas, sherwanis, anarkalis and just a bit of unwanted experimentation with the traditional silhouettes which could have been avoidede. Nevertheless, here are glimpses from the show.

Denim on Denim & Beers

It was International Beer Day, Friendship Day & Sunday (read nursing-a-hangover-day). If you are looking for more excuses to go out and drink beer then clearly you are not a ‘Beer’ person. I had also managed to win a bucket of international beers at Shiro, Hotel Samrat through TWITTER so a couple of my friends and I decided to make a day of it. First stop Shiro to kickstart the day with some never before tasted beers, then onto a typical Sunday brunch, followed by an at-home movie.

Euphoric Magazine Launch at Blue Frog

Usually my Wednesday nights are a lot more silent and sober compared to this one! It was the official launch of Euphoric Magazine – India’s biggest for clubbing and dance music at Blue Frog, New Delhi. The icing on the cake was ofcourse DJ Dale Anderson spinning some crazy stuff for al the guests. And the guests were p-l-e-n-t-y and pretty too! It is NOT that easy to spot so many good-looking, well dressed people under one roof in Delhi on a Wednesday night

Delhi Couture Week Update

The PCJ Delhi Couture Week 2012 which will be held from August 8 – 12, 2012 at The Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi has recently announced that in order to bring out the ‘Indian’ element of the Couture Week, FDCI has made a conscious choice to showcase most of the collections through top Indian models. Out of the 32 high profile models who are ready to scorch the ramp this season, 25 are Indian models and the remaining are of foreign origin.

Levelling With the Animal

Two trends that I have been going ape-shit over lately are finally here together, in one outfit post – Animal Prints and Barely there Distressed Denims. Occassion was my mom’s birthday lunch for which we all went to Cafe Delhi Heights in Gurgaon.
It has barely rained in Delhi this season. Still with all the cloudy moody skies I don’t feel like wearing full length clothes…something about the imagery of the hemlines getting dirty in the sludge etc. So I prefer shorter hemlines, folded or short trousers, skirts or dresses. I’d say shorts too but Delhi/Gurgaon isn’t really a girl-wearing-shorts-friendly city.

Are You a Shoppers Stop First Citizen Yet?

‘We all love a bit of retail therapy and sometimes the impulse to buy is too strong to be denied; but if we are to be honest the smart shopper in all of us searches out the incentives that make that ‘perfect buy’ even more worthwhile. Whether it is a buy-one-get-one-free offer or just an end of season sale, the price of loyalty cannot be overlooked.

Pan Collars

Pan collars proved to be one of the hottest trends during the cooler months, and it seems that it’s a look which is set to stick around right through the summer season. The good news is that it’s also one of the easiest ways to look chic and stylish. With this in mind, here is a quick guide to some of the best ways to wear a pan collar over the coming season
