Hikkaduwa AirBNB, Sri Lanka
I had promised you a while back that I’d share the link to the beautiful Airbnb that Naina and I stayed at, in Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka. And here it is! (Well not yet, it’s at the end of the blog post, where usually all the details are ;))
We spent 6 glorious days here. Our stand-alone room had an en suite bathroom with an open-air shower area which was quite magical especially one particular rainy day when I went in for a shower!
Sherylee & Brett, our Airbnb hosts live in the main house along with 3 doggos Tulsi, Indy & Mac who mostly mind their own business if you don’t want to be bothered. Tulsi is the one who ‘eventually’ gets friendly if you shower enough attention on her. They rent out 2 stand-alone bedrooms next to their house inside the completely walled and well gated area.
The most incredible part of this airbnb is the salt water lap pool. While it is wide enough to support just one person for actual laps, it is a gorgeous place to unwind, sip on coffees or beer. Perfect sun beds in the garden with beautiful and exotic birds that come say hello throughout the day make this airbnb the kind you don’t actually want to leave to explore the rest of the town. Except when you get hungry, coz in that case you will have to step out since there is no facility to cook available to the airbnb guests – rightly so because the smell of it will attract some wild guests you may not be ready to befriend. Best is to walk it to the main road and eat at all the numerous local restaurants. Airbnb to the main road is about 7 minutes walking. They also stock the best french press you’ll probably find in all of Hikkaduwa. Just thought I’d share that little detail because good coffee can make all the difference.
Brett was even awesome enough to stock the refrigerator with our favourite Lion Stout Beers to distract us from our air con being repaired one day. We didn’t mind at all! It was lovely to share a few of those with him poolside on a balmy night. Did I mention they even have fireflies in their garden that like to get close to you if you’re still enough. I even ventured into the pool one night which was probably not the best idea because shortly enough Naina spotted a baby snake swimming along right next to me. I quietly exited the pool and Brett was nice enough to catch the baby snake and go release it in the neighbouring wilderness beyond the wall. It’s experiences like these that make it fun for me I’ll be honest. That’s how you remember the little details of a particular trip many many years later.
If you would like to know where all we ate at Hikkaduwa you can visit this blog post to discover everything on that.
Leaving you with some pics of the pretty place and ofcourse the link to the Airbnb at the end.
NOTE: This is not a sponsored post, we were not paid or given the accommodation for free, we spent our own money to book it. AND we loved it, which is why I wanted to share it with you.
AND HERE IS THE DIRECT LINK TO THIS AIRBNB
Hope you enjoyed the post!
