Winter Essentials

While I happen to be a total summer girl – love the heat, don’t mind the sweat, can even live without any air conditioning, I don’t acutely hate the cold weather provided it’s bearable. This, right now, in Delhi, is not bearable by my standards. And I truly detest it. Sunny days are a solace and my only window to look like I actually put some thought into my outfit instead of my standard 2 layers of warm inners covered with whatever since that’s anyway going to get covered further with my biggest fluffiest down feather jacket, so why bother.

I also have never been a fan of spending too much time on deciding what I should wear so I form a mini collection of permutations and combinations that spend a larger part of my winters in. I’m showing you a few of my winter essentials in today’s outfit – each piece a versatile piece on it’s own that can be worn with lots of other things.

The Black Coat
Can never go wrong with this one. Wear it over your nightsuit and you’ll still look proper.

The Long Grey Pullover
I love it mostly because of the grey color and the texture it has. It definitely doesn’t do anything to keep you warm since it’s cotton so I absolutely have an inner under that.

Blue Denim Jeans
The thicker the fabric the better (warmer it will keep you). But I have started liking the stretchy ones more than the rugged ones because the latter just seems too suffocating now.

A Large Leather Bag
I’m not entirely sure why but my space requirements in a carry bag/purse increase significantly in the colder months as compared to the summers. This genuine leather Phive Rivers bag in a ‘Midnight Blue’ color fits everything I could possibly want to carry on my person and then some. Love the croc print on it and the fact that is it handcrafted by 5 artisans! The brand also comes out with new styles every 30-40 days!

Black Booties
Classics again.

Quirky Sunglasses
In your dreary, colorless winter outfit it should be made mandatory to have one element/accessory that stands out and makes you seem less dead inside. I picked these retro heart shaped sunglasses from Café des Arts in Pondicherry during my recent New Year’s trip. You can read more about the Cafe here. And just for ₹ 800/-

Brown Lipstick
I’m a recent convert to lipsticks with brown tones in them (I think KimK is to blame). I always felt that brown and dull tones make me look older (and maybe they even do) as compared to vibrant reds or pinks that have always been my favorites). But all that has changed now. Where’s the fun if you don’t experiment right?!
