How To Style: Blazers 101

Blazers have that very tangible character to make any outfit or even any body-type look perfectly put-together, in control and polished. The smooth yet sharp silhouette with strong shoulders not only adds to your confidence, they also allow you to look your best for almost any occasion.

In this particular outfit, I have styled a total Vero Moda look where I am showing you how to wear a pastel blazer for a busy workday with fresh white culottes and a yellow blouse. (Culottes are knee-length or slightly longer trousers, with wide legs to resemble a skirt). This is a very summery-spring outfit which is appropriate for wearing to work, a lunch date, brunch with Mom or even shopping with the girls. It is comfortable yet very dynamic-chic.

Apart from this particular outfit there are various ways a blazer can be worn effectively and seamlessly with different outfits. Here are some tips to help you out:

~ For a cocktail or a girls night out wear a solid colored blazer over a shiny sequin dress for a sharp party look.
~ For the most classic outfit combine skinny blue jeans or distressed boyfriend jeans with a plain white tee and a black blazer with aviators.
~ For a slightly sporty spin or a run at the mall wear a blazer over khaki shorts and sport shoes.
~ A easy way to wear maxi dresses to work? Throw on a blazer over them and maybe even wear glasses. Hair should be in a sleek ponytail.
~ If you are shy of wearing that crop top over that high waisted maxi skirt, the blazer can be your knight in shining armor giving you the confidence and classy coverage that you may need.
~ The perfect formal look would be the knee length pencil skirt with a feminine silk top and a blazer over it.
~ If you feel that your outfit maybe too basic but don’t have time to improvise, top it off with a bright pop colored blazer or even a fun printed blazer and it will make a HUGE difference.
~ Blazers can also encourage you to mix prints. Wear a polka dotted blazer over a pin-striped shirt.
