Marwari Weddings | Tanishq

In continuation from the previous post on the Tanishq Wedding Collections, I will be showing some stunning jewllery from their Marwari Wedding Collection that I tried on for my friend at our recent visit to the Tanishq store in South Extension, Delhi.

I am wearing some of my favorite pieces from the Marwari Collection here. I would never pass up on an opportunity to wear wedding jewellery. Tanishq has meticulously come out with collections for various brides right from Bengali to Bihari to Maharashtrian to Sikh to Tamil and many more. There are so many varieties and options and yet so easy to pick out the right jewellery for your wedding.

The Marwari Wedding Collection at Tanishq has some spectacular craftsmanship and wonderful designs that I can imagine wearing even with western outfits which makes the jewellery much more versatile. Being Tanishq, there is always the trust factor that you are in good hands, with authentic precious metals and stones being used and the entire process is very transparent. They have some lovely ‘Rani Haars’, Kundan bangles, gold Maang Tikkas and polki sets.

True to the opulent Marwari style, the wedding is an elaborate affair. The ceremony begins with exchange the garlands which is called the ‘Jaimala’. The next ritual called the ‘Granthi Bandhan’ involves the tying of the knot by the sister of the groom. This is followed by ‘Paanigrahan’ where the groom makes vows of always standing by the bride through the ups and downs of life. Then come the ‘Pheras’ where the bride & the groom walk around the sacred fire and take their wedding vows. On the completion of the Pheras, the groom fills the parting of the bride’s hair with ‘Sindoor’. This is considered to be very auspicious. After this comes ‘Saptapadi’ where the bride & groom walk seven steps together signifying that they will always walk together. The wedding is officially over with the ‘Bidai’ which is the departing of the bride & the groom for their new home.
