That would be more work if you stop hanging out in your jotnis and engage the muscles.WHOA!?!??!!? WHAT?!?!?! WOWZA-say-WOWZA!!!!!Suddenly, this thing I was doing to show myself how bendy I could still be (hello, EGO!!!!!) in my late 20 s/early 30 s left me sweaty and feeling muscles I had long since stopped using.So, I spent some years concentrating on the strength. And wow. I LOVE YOGA!!!! I love that I am forced to work my body and engage my muscles and feel the inner strength.Yes, I still rock my Hanumanasana (and LOVE every second of it!!!!), but here is what I discovered. Over the course of a few years (5-ish???), my right leg was still able to easily sink in and let me relish the flexi-bendy pose. Now my left leg does too!!!!!! Who would have thought that building my strength would take me INTO deeper flexibility!??!?! Not me! But by gaining core strength and balance in the strength of both legs, I can now properly SUPPORT the flexibility. What a concept.{Yeah, that balance! Oh my little Libra self relishes in balance, even when my brain says to leave it out of my home practice.}So, my friend, how do I rectify this within myself, my practice, my life? The flexibility is within you. And you SHALL have it. But as you focus your attention on strength, you shall find that as more intense and flexi is less-so. One day you will access some bendy asana (easy bird of paradise, maybe?) that will recruit the aforementioned strength AND allow you to rock out the flexi-ness of those jotnis. But safely. And that is my 13-cents worth!!!! love you!
