Lancôme :: { DreamTone }
There are a lot of really good dark spot correctors in the beauty market today. The latest one to join this race is the DreamTone serum by Lancôme. It has been customized to correct 3 different skin tones – fair, medium & dark. The one I got for reviewing is the pigmentation profile – 1 for fair skin tone.
Like its name suggests, DreamTone is supposed to diminish your dark spots, even out your skin tone & visibly reduce imperfections like redness & acne marks. This product has received a lot of mixed reviews online. While some have absolutely loved it, many have been sorely disappointed. I have been using this serum for over 2 weeks now and this is what I think of it.
Appearance:
The DreamTone serum comes in a very attractive 40ml bottle with a pump dispense on top packed in a shiny silver box priced at $ 98/- which amounts to anywhere between ₹ 6200/- to ₹7500/-. Full points for packaging. There is a slight tint in the serum and the fragrance is quite strong. While I have always been confused between lovely smelling beauty products & fragrance free ones (because the fragrance free ones are meant to be better for the skin but I love nice smelling things), the fragrance of this serum is a bit on the stronger side, pleasant and will last about half a day. All you need in one go is about 2 – 3 pumps and at this rate the bottle should last you atleast 2.5 – 3 months if you use the product twice daily.
Texture:
The serum has a very silky illuminating texture that spreads evenly and quite quickly on the skin. The tint is barely there so you don’t come to know of it once it has been applied and spread out. It seeps in very well into the skin. Its a very hydrating serum but I found the texture to be a bit heavy for my combination skin. I don’t like products that mattify. I really like products that make the skin feel supple and hydrated but this seemed to leave my skin quite shiny. Which is why this product would be best used while going to bed since you won’t need to apply sunscreen over it, making it heavier. During the day, its an absolute must to apply sunscreen over your serum.
Result:
The illuminating texture of the serum certainly makes your skin tone appear even after application. It has definitely not done anything for my acne scars (dermatologist procedures are best for these concerns I feel). Light brown spots due to sun exposure have been in a better condition with this serum. Redness has been on bay too. However the heavy texture of the serum seems to bother me a bit. The product would ideally be suited for people with dry skin. If you are looking for a feel – good product in a pretty bottle for a luxe, silky daily skin experience, you can definitely go for the DreamTone. But if you are looking to work on serious skin concerns like stubborn brown spots and dull skin, you might have to go for a stronger product. At its current price range, I certainly feel that the product could have delivered a bit more.
