Spa Date – { Alaya Spa + Salon }
It’s not a secret that us women like to indulge. While most tend to gravitate towards manicures, pedicures or hair-stuff at the salon, my most favourite way of indulgence happens to be a body massage. I’ve probably had about 2 mani – pedis in my life till date and never gone for a hair spa. Whenever I get the time, its a spa massage that I LOVE to head to. Gimme the good stuff – the heavy pressure and loads of oil. I love me some serious muscle kneading.
Amongst spas too I’m always on the lookout for something thats close to where I live, so that you can just leave in your jammies and don’t spend too much time driving. What would the point be in getting a 90 minute long relaxing massage and then being stuck in traffic, constant honking and pollution after that?! I also look for spas that won’t burn a crater in my pockets. That way I get to indulge more often too!
And it looks like I’ve found all that at Alaya Spa and Salon by Gyurme Tenzing located in PVR, Saket. Now I know, one would automatically tend to be a little sceptical about a spa in PVR, but as I noticed myself, they have a huge number of female clients and its not shady at all. I LOVED it!
We were welcomed with a tiny cup of very soothing organic ‘Barley Tea’. Yup….Barley. My first time. The best part – they serve it without any sugar/honey/sweetner, and it doesn’t need any either. That’s what sold me straight away. You can ever purchase the tea here. They give you a cup even after your massage. Bliss.
All wooden interiors, flooring of Burmese teak, it lends a very cozy and warm feel to the entire space. With pretty paintings across entire walls, very polite staff and extremely well thought of price-points for their services, Alaya is most probably going to become my regular joint. Right next to my place, affordable, well-maintained, clean and know exactly how a massage should be. My masseuse, Amoon gave the perfect pressure on my muscles and didn’t engage in any conversation. My perfect combination. That’s the waiting area for one of the massage rooms.
For this spa date I had gone along with Naina. We both went for a traditional Tibetan massage ‘kunye’ which was a 90 minute long oil massage. They even have dry massages which don’t use any oils, for example a Thai massage. Alaya had originally started out as a foot reflexology / massage parlour so I’m guessing these would be an absolute must try too! Its what I’m getting done next for sure. That was our massage room.
They have their salon downstairs in a nice big open space where you can avail any salon facilities available elsewhere.
They also have an official tie-up with Moroccan Oil. Yay for all hair!
