{ Festive Chic } – Red + Black + Gold :: BIBA
Its no secret that the festive season is here and is only going to get bigger. We all have plans of attending WEDDINGS in the winter already and shopping outfits for the festive occasions would definitely be the top priority in those plans. And I’m here to help!
For me last season was a lot about whites and creams and gold. Understated yet opulent. This time around the mood is quite different. There is a pronounced attraction towards deeper more powerful hues. I had the recent opportunity to visit a BIBA store to preview their collection and I fell in absolute love with this gorgeous Red + Black + Gold outfit. I just couldn’t seem to take my eyes off of it.
The Red | Black | Gold combination is in my opinion one of those classic ones but not universally accepted ones. I have seen a lot of people staying away from black during festive occasions. But the addition of a rich red and gold lends such a demure beauty to the entire look. Its like power dressing – but in traditional Indianwear.
Very comfortable to wear and spend long hours in. The kurta has a fun element which plays peek-a-boo with your waist. Underneath is there is a kalidar skirt which is probably THE most easy garment to wear.
The way in which you style this outfit, you can take it from daytime festivities to evening and even super-traditional.
For the day it would be ideal to keep the make-up as well as accessorization to a healthy minimum. For example here I have only introduced a large bindi, a cocktail ring complimenting the red in the outfit and another small ring in the other hand
Incase you are looking to get very traditional, this also looks lovely if you take the dupatta over your head. I cannot seem to get over how fabulous and lively this shade of red is!
For an evening look you can go ahead and add a few more accessories for example a maang-tikka and a long necklace. A short one will clash with the closed neckline so it should be avoided.
For this daytime look I have kept the makeup to a minimum. You can go for either a deep red or even a bright red lipstick.

The Word BIBA in Punjabi is an endearment for a young and pretty girl implying sublime qualities, so it was the name decided by Meena Bindra, the founder of BIBA for her line of Salwar, Kameez and Dupattas started in 1986. It was a line which was fashionable and affordable – which is what BIBA stands for – Fashion at affordable prices.
The BIBA store that I visited is the one situtated at DLF Place, Saket. Here are some other oufits that particularly caught my eye at the store.
Absolutely loving the vibrant prints and variety of color. There is an outfit for everyone.
BIBA can be found on Facebook as well as Twitter.
I would love to know what you think of the outfit that I picked out and how you would like to style it!

That is an amazing outfit !!
Loved it. Have to visit the store super soon 😀
I think it looks as resplendent as you described it to be… it’s very striking, the combination of black, gold and red that makes it seem very royal but in an understated appeal. The black bindi looks nice with the outfit, but I’d like to see how it would look with a dull gold maang tikka (a basic one – nothing too fancy, or encrusted with little stones).
P.S. I love the fact that it looks demure and perfect like a princess, and then there’s that lovely slit starting from the midriff which makes it even more Indian, royal and very appealing altogether. ^.^

In love with the color of these tradational dresses, the combination of black and red with gold is something that makes it more eye-catching and beautiful. Indian dresses are pretty similar to Pakistani dresses and always have a traditional look in it.
