Spa Getaway – The Westin Sohna Resort & Spa
I had been cribbing for quite a while about how I wasn’t able to take a vacation this summer, leading to a bit of frustration, sulkiness and general dip in energy levels. It is NOT pretty when you stay groggy till lunch time. Something really had to be done. The perfect opportunity for de-stressing presented itself when I was invited by The Westin Sohna Resort & Spa for a laid-back and relaxed spa day! They really couldn’t have timed it better. It was a very much needed and deserved day of being pampered and emerging completely rejuvenated. Now if only I could visit every week!
While it is a bit of a drive from Delhi, you forget about it the moment you reach the resort. It took us about and hour and a half from Saket to the resort. Can’t really say the roads were any helpful either, especially because of the rains. Was almost like a mini road-trip of sorts. Ideal for a weekend getaway I’d say. Spread across 37 acres of lush green land, it really takes you away from the hurried city-life mindset.
On getting there we took a tiny tour of the entire property and then headed on to the much needed spa-time.
This really is the first thing that catches your eye once you enter the ‘Heavenly Spa’ space – Their pyramid shaped meditation room. Completely set apart, surrounded by mini waterfalls, it almost reminded me of the Matrimandir, Auroville although that is dome-shaped. The interiors are very serene and immediately spread tranquillity.
Another place that I completely fell in love with was their ‘Yoga Room’. Mostly because I love doing yoga. But apart from that, this room was very inviting in a way because it felt very natural and earthy. A lot of wood and bricks and no concrete. I could spend hours in here!
A special feature I noticed in the spa area was that there was a continuous flow of tiny water bodies going around everywhere sort of unifying everything into one. Loved that concept!
One more place where I can spend hours – The Jacuzzi Area. I have actually been known to fall asleep in one of these because I tend to spend too much time in it!
A sneak peek into the ‘Ayurvedic Massage’ room.
The entire place is densely populated by firangipani flowers which I absolutely adore.
They have a surprisingly well stocked book store which can keep anyone (right from a child to an adult) occupied.
The body scrub that my beau and I decided to go with. Him – Neem / Marigold and Rose for me. The scrubs were followed by deep-tissue Balinese massages for which I have no words because you really have to get one to know how awesome it really is!
After our massages we decided to head on to the main restaurant – The Living Room. That’s the exterior:
We definitely decided to have their signature mocktails – The Feng Shui. Very refreshing and energizing I must say! Must be the fresh lychee that goes in it!
The Living Room even has a special Spa Menu section for the health conscious folks who really want to take the rejuvenating experience to the next level.
While the food was great and service even better, I really must mention the Lemon Meringue Tarts which were part of the buffet dessert. These were by far the best I’ve ever had. My two recommendations from this place – The Balinese massage and the lemon meringue tarts at ‘The Living Room’ restaurant.
Every resort and spa is far from complete without a pool!

Its safe to say the monsoons have been more than sufficient this season and we all have had our share of dull cloudy days, water-logged roads and a certain lack of cheer from time to time. And since I haven’t travelled out of Delhi this summer, I decided to make this my beach vacation. Don’t judge! Got my tropical pants, light breezy white top, the perfect beach tote, turq sunnies and a hat to go! Whaddaya think!
