Nandita Mahtani – Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2012

I know this post has been a bit delayed but nonetheless, I had to write about it because I had all these fabulous photographs lying with me. Couldn’t let them go to waste! Following are images from Nandita Mahtani’s show at the recently concluded Delhi leg of the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2012.
It was a very specific evening/cocktails dressy collection with the scales tipping slightly towards bling but it never looked in-you-face garish. Elegantly done.

{ Stylaned } – Modernist Gota feat. Jenjum Gadi

Jenjum Gadi who was one half of the label KOGA sometime back now has his own label. Not afraid to experiment with materials, this time Jenjum has focussed on ‘Gota Work’. Using it in a way that is very different from the traditional Indianwear, he has given the concept of Gota a breath of fresh air! For example the jacket that is featured here, you will never be able to realize that its surface ornamentation has been done using ‘Gota’ but go close and you’ll see what I’m talking about. His collection ranges from some aggressive modernist gota usage to minimal ethereal forms and usage.

Atsu :: Wills India Fashion Week S/S ’13 ::

When you have such a specific theme/inspiration for a collection it can get a bit intimidating and the theme can easily dominate over your true sensibilities. However it was such a pleasure to see Atsu incorporate the ‘North – Eastern’ sensibilities with such ease into his collection.

Manish Malhotra :: Wills India Fashion Week S/S ’13 ::

It was a treat of gorgeous ‘chikankari’ embroideries on the garments at the Manish Malhotra show. The colors for the womenswear were to die for too! I really wish he would have taken a chance with some bolder colors in his menswear pieces though. I especially loved how he had used special ‘chikankari’ borders on some of his dupattas. Very delicate and fine craftsmanship from the girls at the Mijwan NGO, which was another wonderful cause that was being supported.

#FiamaFabHair & { A Scarf Print Shirt }

Fiama recently held a ‘Fabulous Hair Event’ with hair expert Sapna Bhavnani, whose website you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO see for yourself! They showcased 6 unique and trendy hairstyles on some lovely ladies including designer Ranna Gill, Vidushi Mehra (wife of designer Nikhil Mehra), Ambika Anand, etc. All the hairstyles were classy, practical and complimentary to any glam occassion.

But first a quickie Outfit Post followed by a few pics from the event!
The heat seems to be slowly ebbing so I decided it wouldn’t hurt to wear a mildly heavy shirt – a slightly old pick but still very much loved due to its sheer energy and vibrance – my ‘ZARA Scarf Print Shirt’.
