Summer Love – Flea by Nite!

Went to the Flea by Nite by Cosmopolitan Magazine recently held at Olive Bar & Kitchen, Mehrauli. The place was packed, people having a good time and even better drinks. The stalls were done up pretty and the products ranged from summer garments, to accessories to shoes and bags. Fun filled night.

MOO Business Cards

So I had just joined Klout very recently that they told me I was eligible for one of their perks! Getting 50 business cards for myself from MOO! Awesome news! The very same day I claimed the perk, uploaded about 30 photographs that I wanted to be printed at the back of the cards, gave my information, paid for the shipment charges and voila! I was set!
About 10 days after this my package arrived with a big ‘YAY’ written on it. Gorgeous quality of printing, fabulous drool-worthy paper…*sigh* I could’nt help myself from taking photographs. So here is me going nuts over my MOO cards.
(Its a bit of a bummer that ‘Klout’ is printed on each card on the side of the pic but ultimately paying just about Rs. 800, which is for the shipping, for 50 of such awesome business cards seemed like a good deal to me)

My beauties. I used a lot of images that I clicked at the last WIFW too!

They are so good I dont even feel like using them…now to look for a good card-holder too!

Lifestyle Pakistan Gala Dinner

It was definitely a good feeling to be a part of the celebrations of the launch of ‘Lifestyle Pakistan’ – a fashion, music and food extravaganza from Pakistan at the Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi. To become a part of Pakistani traditional design, not very different from our own, but you could feel those small hints of deviation from our own sensibilities, not only in the garments and embroideries and patterns but also ofcourse the gorgeous food!

The collections of the designers ranged from dull dreary mature to bright and funky pallettes and silhouettes. There was something for everyone. On the downside the event seemed to take forever to finish. The delay in beginning can really only be blamed on the delhiites but the program itself stretched on for a long time. In my opinion they could have done without showing some designers in the show.
The dinner was fabulous. Huge variety of dishes which spelt gala all over I suppose. But again they were unprepared for the large number of people that showed up. It almost looked like a ‘shaadi’!
But thats how you learn. Im sure the next Lifestyle Pakistan will be much better prepared for ‘Dilli dilwaalon ki’.

It was a great experience to meet some lovely people too. I was bowled over by how very polite and well spoken Pakistanis are. Their manner of speaking is so cultured, a fresh change from what you get to hear at actual Delhi weddings.

Also this post was meant to come up a while back. Apologies for the delay. Can I blame it on my Delhi based nature since we are still on the same post ?!

I Dream of Shoes

Theres something about the beginning of summers…you want to completely change your wardrobe and shop ALL the time! Ofcourse you can’t leave shoes far behind.
Now I dont have a bank balance that can afford these shoes…or even one for that matter! But a girl can dream.
So here is a selection of shoes that im currently day dreaming about and obsessing over. It almost seems like a mirage in the sheer heat of the season though.

(1) Versace – Studded suede and mesh platform sandals, £1,382.22
All aboard the spaceship…for the glamour gleek in you!
(2) Cobra Society – Hand-woven wool and brushed-leather thigh boots, £1,215.39
I know Coachella is over, but you still gotta have these tribal babies.

Classic, rugged and cowgirl. Its not the season for them but IF I actually had them, I WOULD wear them.
(4) Emilio Pucci – Raffia and patent-leather T-bar pumps, £691.10
For all evenings. In your forever classics gold, black and white.
(5) Christian Louboutin – Devidas 140 embellished suede pumps, £2,049.48
Not sure about the ‘Devidas’ name but if opulence is your style then these would be your go to shoes.
(6) McQ Alexander McQueen – Flame appliqué leather pumps, £357.47
Biker? Tattoos? No? fret not, anyone can carry off these rock chic nudes.
(7) Pierre Hardy – Elaphe snakeskin and leather sandals, £1,191.56
Bordering on architectural, think power shoulders, strong clean lines to be worn with these shoes.
(8) Brian Atwood – Claudia embroidered suede pumps, £1,477.53
You should have atleast one ‘all-feminine’ pair of shoes in your collection. Beautiful, gorgeous colors, urban and traditional.
(9) Christian Louboutin – Asteroid 140 suede and patent-leather pumps,£1,167.74
For the rebel in you. Not really, you can wear these even if you are at complete peace with yourself and just want to make a statement!

Fashmob – Lecoanet Hemant

It was a close gathering of fine people from the fashion fraternity and the employees of Lecoanet Hemant for the showcasing of their Summer 2012 Collection. People were mingling, sipping on wine, eating some cheese when all of a sudden, out of nowhere, quite like a ‘fLashmob’ but not quite either…women…wearing the new collection, walked into the foyer area. Women with real bodies and real faces and real personalities. Right from Lecoanet Hemant’s employees to designers, entrepreneurs and more, women from all walks of life showcased the collection in what was a brilliant and id say bold concept. I could see Hemant written all over this idea. And that is why I have so much respect for the guy.

They went on to move about so that everyone present could have a closer look and feel of the collection, after which they models themselves mingles with the crowd and became a part of it. A perfect ending to a great beginning. The first of its kind, The Fashmob, was a great showcase to witness.

Beer Much? – Striker Pub & Brewery

When its a Sunday and you work five days a week, you tend to make the absolute most of it – by forced habit. So naturally I turn to my best friend – BEER. And what better place to have it than Striker, in Gurgaon, where i’d like to think that its freshly brewed just for me on Sundays…
This time they were out of Jazzy Light so we had Weiss Blues…yummy in my tummy!

Ofcourse before actually placing the order I ALWAYS do the beer tasting…*every time go there* I just like it that ways. I mean common its free! Can’t say no to that!

Not to mention the ritual of ordering the same food that I always order at Striker. Believe me these two are the best starters at Striker. Yogurt Kebabs – Vegetarian & Mustard Fish Kebabs for the Non-veg, which would be me. But I really do dig the curd kebabs too! Im greedy with food.

Thats where the beer is made. Fortunately/unfortunately they don’t let people in there otherwise some like me would break a pipe or try n swim somewhere in there.

Ofcourse theres a smoking room. Thats actually my friend acting all broody. He loves the camera and it always helps to have friends like that when you carry a camera everywhere! The conscious ones never really help!

I did notice they have an interesting floor as well. Besides that I really wanted to get my Jaipuri payal in a shot somewhere too. Two birds with one stone! Am I good or am I good? I think im beginning to sound like I wrote this post just after leaving Striker but no I didn’t. I think im just buzzing with the coffee.

And lastly but not the leastly, yours truly! Lets face it, beer and restrooms always go hand in hand. Now I wasn’t actually called, or asked or paid OR even given any free beer to visit Striker to do this post. Its purely been done out of love for the place and their great beer! So the next time you feel like going to Striker, maybe somehow miraculously I’ll get a free beer from somewhere.

Im already drooling and its just Wednesday!
